Individuals who are 70 1/2 or older may make charitable distributions from IRA’s of up to $100,000/year. These are known as “Qualified Charitable Distributions or QCD’S”. No taxable income is attributable to your tax return from IRA distributions of this type. If you are required to take distributions from your IRA, the donation to charity will count toward your Required Minimum Distribution.
Gifts of stocks or other securities are eligible at their value the day you make the transfer. If it was purchased more than one year ago, any capital gains tax you may have owed on the growth of that stock or security is eliminated. Note that to be eligible for this, gifts of this type must be transferred directly from your Brokerage to the Encouragement Media Group by using the information below:
